abstract: Working in series' of 8, I am conducting a cybernetic experiment on my painting behaviors 1. While 8 is semi-arbitrary, it is no more or less so than the thrown nature of existing. 8 is significant for a variety of reasons: I was born 8/28/88 weighing 8lbs, 8oz. There are 8 letters in my name which spell a phonetic "eight." I went to school on 8 W 8th Street in NYC...... but none of that really matters. I chose the number to create a system which continues to result in a visual algorithm of behaviors. Series_1 for this experiment was both the most simple and chaotic stage in the process; because, while the paintings were reactionary in numerical order (1>2>3>...) there were no other compatriots to refer to for modes of conduct. For instance, "3" came as a reaction to "2", but there were no other "3's" at that stage to reference -- whereas by the time I arrive at Series_2,000, there will be a history of 2000 "3's" to cite 2.
